Pattern Spotlight: Poppy Hex
My inspiration for this pattern came from two things. While weeding earlier this spring, I found two hexagon tiles in my backyard. It’s not totally unusual for me to find random bits of broken glass, pottery, or tiny objects because we have an 1880s farmhouse. I actually get embarrassingly excited when I come across something I find on the ground because I find it an exciting connection to the form owners, whoever they were. The tile was really unusual though because it was intact and I found two in completely different places seemingly out of nowhere a few days apart. It gave me the itch for the pattern shape, but for the actual object, I wanted to feature my favorite flower that grows here, poppies!
I drew it first in Procreate, vectorized it with image trace in Adobe Illustrator, and constructed the repeat there as well. It’s available in a few colorways in my Spoonflower shop!
